Urban Decay Basics Palette

My mum and her friends recently went to New York and whilst she was there I asked her to look out for an Urban Decay Naked Palette (better late than never as it seems everyone has had one of these for years!). Because I didn't specify which one,  she kindly bought me the "Basics" palette, however I was quite pleased with this as I have so many glittery shades that it will be great for everyday use. I couldn't wait to try it and watched some Youtube videos beforehand, however they were mostly showing off palettes "2" or "3" so I decided to go ahead and create my own look.

I decided to create a graduated effect with the different tones. The palette is really about buildable colour and I felt as though I had to put a few coats of each shade on to achieve the look I wanted. I wore this look for a night out and was happy with how well it stayed on, even though I didn't use any eyeshadow primer.

I'm looking forward to creating more looks with this, so let me know if you have one and how you use yours!

Loyal and Unabashed

Following the love I received from my original NARS make-up post, the lovely ladies over at NARS NYC decided to send me a little gift to say thank you! I've been blogging for just over two months now so it's lovely to see big companies supporting bloggers and "normal" girls who are truly passionate about the products they use. I was so excited opening the package and was even more excited when it revealed this beautiful orange nail varnish and very glam but understated lip gloss! I've been wearing nail varnish non-stop for probably over two years now so I couldn't wait to paint them this lovely autumnal colour. After two coats the colour was bright and vibrant and has lasted well since I applied it on Thursday. The lip gloss feels great on and fades to a subtle shimmer over time.

On the same day as my lovely NARS goodies arrived, my friend and I took a beauty trip to MAC in Spitalfields. (This is before I knew the package had arrived, BEAUTY OVERLOAD)! That same day, I had spotted my friend wearing a gorgeous shade of lipstick from MAC called "half and half" and knew straight away I had to have it. I don't normally invest that much money into make-up, however I think it's about time that changed. Make-up is the only thing that us girls wear consistently everyday and so it only seems right that this is what we spend the most money on, especially as the products are going onto our skin! This shade of lipstick is a beautiful everyday colour that I know I will wear again and again. The shade is fairly dark which also gives off that Kylie Jenner vibe ;)

NARSissit

Last weekend my boyfriend went back to uni and my best friend of 16 years went off to start her first year at the uni of Norwich to study fine art. The two of them leaving at the same time left me feeling pretty down and lonely, so I decided to treat myself to a rather extravagant yet beautiful purchase in the hopes of cheering myself up.

I wouldn't normally spend this much on make-up and so I was expecting pretty amazing results. This NARS set comes with 3 eyeshadows, a brush and an eyeliner. The packaging is lovely and simple and makes you want to use the product, I was excited getting out each piece from it's packaging! The eyeshadows themselves are beautiful colours that can be used together or individually depending on what look you're going for. As it was the weekend when I applied this make-up, I had more time on my hands than normal and so decided to go for the full on smokey eye effect. The brush that it comes with is a lovely angled one, which is great for a large sweep application but not as good for more precise work as I thought it would be. However, the product out of this set that I was most impressed with was the eyeliner as it glided on with smooth precision and stayed put all day!

Overall I am happy with the set as I spent the whole day shopping around an absolutely packed Oxford Street and by the end of it the eyeliner and shadow were still on with minimal creasing! (Of course the colour intensity had dulled slightly, although nobody would be able to tell.) I'm looking forward to using this again to create a more neutral look for work.

Have you bought any new make-up recently that you were really impressed with?
