Winter in August

Necklace: Topshop sale

If the suns not out then I'll class it as a winter's day, and at the moment that's exactly what it's been like! So, in an attempt to keep warm I decided to team my smart long-line blazer with a few more casual pieces to create a very city-chic work look. I don't normally dress this smart for work, (and by smart I mean wear a blazer) however it gives me such a confidence boost and even though I bought the blazer in the January sales, it's a classic piece that won't be going out of trend in a hurry! I'm also still loving these jeans which were one of my amazing Primark finds that I featured in my very first styleandlondon post!

This Week's Wish List: Minimal

This week's New In love-in is ASOS. I decided to choose pieces that had a minimal/basic vibe about them because I am constantly buying clothes with bright patterns or noticeable features which makes me feel as though I can only wear them a few times. It's important to build up a good selection of basics for your wardrobe, as these are the pieces that we go back to time and time again.

Clothing

I just love this cape. I can just imagine it being so comfy on those cold winter days! It also comes in black...might have to get both!

So simple, so chic.

I love a jumper, especially if it's a turtle neck, and this elegant looking grey one would look good with anything from jeans to a black pleated skirt.

Although this doesn't look like much for the price, the material is a beautiful mix of cotton and wool and it has a pleated detail on the back so it drapes amazingly. The length is great for everyday wear too.

I have grown to covet a pair of culottes, whereas when they first burst onto the scene I wasn't so convinced by them. These grey ones look like they could make any top look stylish.

Styled in the wrong way, I don't think that this dress would have made it onto my wishlist. However the model that they've used gives the dress a more 90s vibe than a girl-in-the-club look. This dress could be played down for casual days by wearing a white short sleeved tee underneath.

Accessories

Like culottes, mules are a shoe that have grown on me through the season. Now, I want a pair and keeping in with this week's minimal theme, these are perfect!

ASOS have been coming up with an updated version of this bag each season for a while now, and the colours of this new one are perfect for Autumn.

For some reason, people always assume that I am taller than I actually am, even in flats. Having shoes with a slight heel allows me to trick people even further!

A lot of girls think that small bags are pointless... but not me! They're great for those times when you're just visiting a friend or going shopping and only need your keys, phone and purse. This one at £15 is a steal!

I've never owned a pair of Vans, however seeing this pair has made me think twice about them. I'm a sucker for snakeskin print.

ASOS AW14 Press Day

Autumn/Winter is fast approaching and before we know it we will be shivering in our chic camel coats with our umbrellas held tight. But its not all bad, because a new season means a new style and this A/W is set to be the best yet.

ASOS.com held their AW14 press day was back in April, however I feel as though sharing it now will hopefully bring about a second wave of excitement for the new season's collection! Here are my favourite picks from the day...

Girly Grunge

The grunge trend has been updated with longline coats teamed with full scuba skirts, chunky boots teamed with sports socks and deep red hues.

Textures

Texture means three things to ASOS; heavy fabrics, full on prints and lots of embellishments!

Androgynous Accessories

Accessories get a manly touch with briefcase inspired bags, chunky shoes and a mixture of studs and glitter.

Menswear

The main trend for menswear was teaming sporty and smart. This meant blazers worn with snapbacks and shirts worn under puffer coats.

Primark AW14 Haul

Since starting my job at ASOS I am constantly buying clothes online and hardly ever have time to go into actual shops. Recently, however, I found myself in Primark and I was so amazed with their new collection! I was like an excited kid in a sweet shop and got just a tiny bit carried away. Here's what I bought...

1. Camel coat £23
2. Limited Edition mini black bag £12
3. Cut-and-sew panel jeans £13
4. Baby blue PU quilted biker jacket £25
All Primark

As I was walking around the shop I was so impressed with the quality and prices of the clothes, I just couldn't help picking up more stuff! Plus, everything fits great!
