ASOS SS15 Press Day

This week, ASOS held their Spring/Summer '15 press day to showcase some of their main concepts for the coming season. It had something for everyone - from the super fun to the highly sophisticated - proving that they are a simple, one stop destination for every fashion loving girl (and guy). 

ASOS themselves had split up each area into a different trend, so I thought that I would break them down even further and show you the pieces that I thought would be most wearable for next season.

The first trend I picked up on was this really cool "city chic" vibe. It was all about bags in sleek shapes and oversized, longline (yet still sophisticated) clothes. The muted tones created an almost autumnal feel which is something unique for S/S and means that there will be an alternative to the cliché pastels that are normally around that time of year. The trend also proved that the blanket cape and sleeveless waistcoat are here to stay, meaning that hopefully we'll be able to grab a few more in the January Sales and wear them over into Spring.

The second trend I picked out was this "edgy meets dainty" type of styling. ASOS showed that you can mix really quirky jewellery pieces with more delicate fabrics and prints to create a more edgy look.  The mix of gold, pearls and studs will make ASOS a sure stop for jewellery in Spring!

Orange Is The New Black

Orange knitwear is so big this season! Everyone at work has been wearing orange jumpers which is why I'm using mine to show you how I take my midi dress from casual day wear to after work drinks.

Midi dresses are great for Autumn as they are long enough that they won't get blown up in the wind, which is one reason why I never wear short skirts! For my day look I've teamed my amazing orange jumper with my dress, boots and a fab clutch from Primark! My thing at the moment is clutches for casual wear. There are so many nice ones out there that it seems a shame to restrict them to a night out. They can also take your look from boring to chic instantly! 

For the evening look I've simply removed the jumper! I know that doesn't seem adventurous enough but let's be realistic... it's so much effort to bring in a change of shoes and accessories into work every time you go out! Also, it just goes to show that removing one item of clothing can rework a whole outfit. I'd team the evening look with a leather jacket and loads of eyeliner.

How amazing is this clutch?! The beading is beautiful and makes it feel so much more luxurious and expensive than it actually was. With all the colours the clutch has it means it will be able to go with almost any outfit for a meal or night out with friends. I also love this midi dress and the fact that it is so versatile! Here I have styled it for a night out with heels and a statement clutch, however I also wear this dress casually for work by styling it with black heeled sandals and a cardigan or leather jacket if its cold out (which it almost certainly always is now it's October!). The dress is made from a lovely heavy fabric which means it fits really well and drapes beautifully. I haven't put any jewellery with the outfit as, although the dress is plain, the clutch and pop of colour from the heels adds enough detail without the need for anything extra.

On Tuesday it was my 20th Birthday and it feel crazy not to be a teenager any more! I had the best time over the weekend with my boyfriend. We went to London Zoo and had dinner and drinks afterwards in Spitalfields. Then on Wednesday, 20 of us ASOS lot went Bowling in Finsbury Park which was so much fun!

I bought this top about a month ago now and have waiting for a slight chill in the air to start wearing it as the embellishments make it feel heavier. Here, I've styled the top as I would for after work drinks (I always have spare heels and a clutch under my desk!!). However, the reason this top is so great is because of it's versatility! I normally wear it with the same jeans but switch the shoes to heeled sandals for a more relaxed work outfit.

I bought this pair of dungarees a few weeks ago and at first I just couldn't make up my mind about them, however now I'm glad I kept them because they've become a key piece in my wardrobe! Even though the baggy fit isn't something I'd normally go for I still love them. I've had two run ins with dungarees before - I bought a short pair from Topshop last Summer however took them back, then I bought a skinny pair from H&M however had to take them back when I realised that they were so tight I couldn't sit down! Moving on haha... 

A lot of girls shy away from dungarees because they are hard to style, which can be true, however Pinterest and street style blogs are a great way to gain inspiration! Here I've teamed my pair with a nude top to bring back a feminine edge, however kept in with the relaxed vibe by adding classic Converse trainers and a canvas tote. I also often wear these with a black crop top for a more slick style.

Longline Everythaang

I am loving the womenswear longline trend at the moment - not sure about the guys version though! This cardigan is sooo cosy to wear and looks cool too. I bought it when it first came onto ASOS and it sold out for a while pretty soon after! This dress is a brand new purchase and I thought that matching lengths of this and the cardigan would look great together. I've tied the look together with chunky heeled boots to give me back the height I lose from the longer lengths. I've also included this cute little rucksack (which is my festival go-to) as I think it gives the outfit a more current feel as opposed to "cosy granny".

#EpicSummer

I started working at ASOS in January which means that this year I have made some amazing memories with some great new friends. We always find a reason to go out and have a good time, especially during the Friday 3pm finishes over these past Summer months, which have sadly just ended now that Autumn is approaching. You may be familiar with ASOS' "#EpicSummer" campaign in which ASOS asked their customers to use the hashtag to show off their fun summer snaps. That's why I thought that I should show off some of my own #EpicSummer moments that have all happened thanks to ASOS.

ASOS Summer Party

The ASOS Summer party was held at the Artillery House in Moorgate, London at the start of July. It was a truly amazing party with drinks and dancing all night long! As soon as you walked in there were waiters lined up offering you champagne and cocktails (which felt very posh haha!). There was a fairground area including a wheel and bumper cars, lots of different food stalls to choose from, live acts playing and a silent disco later on in the night.

ASOS Menswear Carnival 

I'm lucky enough to work on Menswear and at the end of July we all headed down to a private rooftop bar in Dalston for a Carnival themed party. There was an amazing DJ playing and the tastiest jerk pulled pork/chicken burgers! We all got ready together in the office after work which meant that we received some funny looks making our way to the party from Camden to Dalston.

Afternoon tea, darling!

Last week I had some time off work and so my boyfriend decided to surprise me by taking me to Afternoon Tea at the Marygreen Manor Hotel in Brentwood, Essex! We both dressed very smartly for the occasion and headed down to the very cute 16th Century hotel for our tea and cakes. The inside was very old-y world-y which made it all the more special. We had a pot of tea each - I had green, of course - and a tier of sandwiches, cakes and scones to choose from. Everything was delicious and we were both fully caked-out by the time we had finished!
